The Belmont Abbey College student receives $1,000.
DUBLIN, OH, October 27, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ — Coming out of high school, Scott “Scotty” Reeves was set to receive a full scholarship for his baseball prowess. But that bright future changed drastically when he fell off a caster board, hitting his head on the pavement. Reeves suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) that threatened his plans.
Scott Reeves is this year’s winner of the Bressman Law Traumatic Brain Injury Scholarship. While he praises the work and care of the staff who tended to him at Central Florida Regional Hospital, Reeves is also quick to point out the source of his inspiration: his family.
“I was never alone, one of them was always by my side,” he told Bressman Law representatives. “They were all there for me when I reached my rehab goal to walk on my own across the stage for high school graduation after my injury. Their support gave me the strength to keep grinding on my road to recovery.”
Scott Reeves attends Belmont Abbey College, where he has returned to the baseball diamond while studying business administration. “I feel like I am proof that there is hope for people who have had a TBI and who wish to continue to pursue a college degree and to play a collegiate sport,” Reeves says.
He also spends time performing volunteer work and conducting mission trips through his church. As for the future, Reeves continues to dream big. He wants to play baseball professionally while setting himself up to be an entrepreneur or enter the corporate world.
“I plan to continue to apply my hard work ethic to my future career in order to be successful and support my own family one day as my family has supported me,” he says.
