“Room For Her” tells the compelling story of Alyson Fouse, one of Hollywood’s trailblazing black women in television comedy. Raised in Compton, California, Alyson’s journey embodies resilience, determination, and creative triumph. The film spotlights her path from her family home—where storytelling began with comics and church minutes—to her first professional steps in radio, and onto the writers’ rooms of hit Hollywood comedies. With notable collaborations featuring Chris Rock and Wanda Sykes, Alyson’s story demonstrates the power of breaking barriers and forging a new legacy in entertainment.
Director of Photography Mads Fridolin Vejlby will work side-by-side with producer Ian McClellan and director Katie Ginge Cox to craft a signature documentary style. The film will blend observational camerawork and reflective interviews, capturing Alyson’s daily life and pivotal moments with nuance and intimacy. Vejlby will oversee all aspects of the cinematography—from developing visual concepts and assembling crew members, to guiding lighting choices, and ensuring every frame elevates Alyson’s story.
