Free Mandela Day Art Workshop for Young People Set for Sunday, July 19, 2026 at Noon — Artwork to Be Featured on tnuhr.org
Nashville, TN, 26th June 2026, ZEX PR WIRE, Tennessee United for Human Rights (TnUHR) is calling on young people across the region to pick up a paintbrush, sharpen a pencil, and lend their voice to a cause that has echoed across generations. In honor of International Mandela Day, TnUHR will host a free Youth Art Workshop on Sunday, July 19, 2026, beginning at noon. Young participants will spend the session learning about the extraordinary life of Nelson Mandela and the universal human rights values he championed — then express what they’ve learned through original works of art.

The workshop is open to youth of all ages and artistic abilities. Participants will be guided through an age-appropriate exploration of Mandela’s life — from his early activism and 27 years of imprisonment to his historic presidency of South Africa and his enduring legacy as a global symbol of peace, perseverance, and human dignity. Artwork created during the event may focus on Nelson Mandela’s life story, the principles of human rights, or the ideals that his life stood for.
All finished works of art will be featured on the TnUHR website at www.tnuhr.org, where they will be preserved as a meaningful record of how Tennessee’s next generation understands and celebrates Mandela’s legacy. Past youth art showcased on the site has included vibrant portraits, symbolic imagery, and heartfelt statements about equality, freedom, and justice.
“It is easy to break down and destroy. The heroes are those who make peace and build.” — Nelson Mandela
International Mandela Day is observed every year on July 18th, the birthday of Nelson Mandela. Officially recognized by the United Nations in 2009, the day calls on people everywhere to devote 67 minutes of service to others — representing the 67 years Mandela dedicated to the fight for social justice. TnUHR’s annual observance has grown into a beloved tradition, offering Tennessee youth a meaningful way to participate in that global call to action.
Tennessee United for Human Rights is a chapter of United for Human Rights, an international nonprofit dedicated to implementing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights at the local, regional, national, and international levels.
