Korea’s medical devices have gained reputation for its competitiveness as a future growth engine industry, especially for the role they played during the pandemic. In this year’s KIMES, various medical device-related companies participated, including convergence medical device manufacturers, big tech companies and startups. These companies showcased a wide variety of products in light of potential overseas expansion in the post-pandemic era. The event was the largest medical device exhibition to be held in Korea (according to statistics from Association of Korean Exhibition Industries), encompassing the latest emerging trends in the global high-tech medical industry, including digital healthcare, robotics, AI, wearables, and sleep-tech.

Providers of imaging diagnosis equipment, such as Samsung Electronics, DK Medical System, Listem, LG Electronics, SG Healthcare, DRGEM, DR Tech and Genoray, global companies such as GE Healthcare and PHILIPS, as well as healthcare companies such as InBody and SELVAS Healthcare participated as exhibitors in the event.

The exhibition space was divided according to product category, with Exhibition Hall A on the 1st floor dedicated to “Treatment and Medical Information,” Exhibition Hall B and Grand Ballroom to “Healthcare and Rehabilitation equipment,” Exhibition Hall C on the 3rd floor to “Examination, Diagnostic Devices and Medical Information System,” and Exhibition Hall D to “Diagnosis and Hospital Facilities.”

MedicomteK 2023 (Medical Component & Medical Technology Korea), was also held jointly in Exhibition Hall D during the exhibition period, reflecting the demands and needs for state-of-the-art parts and materials that use convergence technology, which are attracting growing interest in the medical industry.

The global healthcare and medical tourism conference (Medical Korea 2023, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Korea Health Industry Development Institute), held under the theme of “Medical Korea! Journey for a Better Daily Life and Future” in order to promote exchange of trends and networking in the global medical industry, was held at the COEX Auditorium and the Conference Room (North, 2nd Floor) for 2 days from March 23 (Thursday) to March 24 (Friday). The aim is to improve the level and scope of international medical device and hospital facility exhibitions and to promote the growth of the medical equipment industry. So far, it has awarded 2 National Assembly of the Republic of Korea – Health and Welfare Committee commendations, 3 Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy commendations, 3 Minister of Health and Welfare commendations, and 2 Minister of Food and Drug Safety commendations. A KIMES Award Ceremony was also held this year as part of the opening ceremony.
